“In shock”, “Unbelievable” – Fans react as WWE releases several stars including Peyton Royce, Samoa Joe and Bo Dallas

WWE confirmed the releases of Samoa Joe and several others but the fans were not happy one bit

Almost to the day when WWE cut several stars in 2020, the company did the same in 2021 with some big names being released.

Samoa Joe, Mickie James, Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, Tucker, Kalisto, Chelsea Green, Bo Dallas, Wesley Blake and Mojo Rawley were all released by the company.

The IIconics (Royce and Kay) are former tag champions in WWE (WWE)

While some of the stars, such as Blake, Dallas and Rawley weren’t seen too much on TV, there were a few that certainly didn’t deserve to be cut now.

WWE claimed that budget constraints led them to release the stars. However, it came as a bit of a shock that talents such as Joe, Royce, James, Kay and Green were released. Joe is a former NXT Champion and was out injured for a long time, but he was doing a great job as a commentator.

Kay had just gotten over with a new gimmick. Royce and Green were top talents in their time in WWE but they never got a fair crack on the main roster.

WWE fans call out company over 2021 releases

Last year’s releases came at a horrible time as Covid-19 had hit hard and the decision to cut many stars was met with the ire of the fans.

However, WWE recovered well, at least financially, and even signed a reported $1billion deal with Peacock a few months back.

It comes as more of a shock that they decided to release so many stars, especially ones that seemed to be getting into the groove of things.

Many fans were left enraged by the decision to cut some stars, especially the likes of Joe or Royce. WWE stars came out in support of those cut and there is no doubt that they will find another promotion or project to work in.

However, this does lead to some questioning on WWE’s part. AEW has a bloated roster but nobody got cut during the pandemic but WWE is doing the same thing for a second year in a row.

There could be more cuts on the way but the fans certainly are not supporting WWE at the moment.
