Former NXT champion Finn Balor lies ahead of Roman Reigns for WWE Universal Title

Following the completion of Summerslam, the first WWE Smackdown episode ended with Finn Balor challenging Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship Title. The main reason behind this challenge was Balor being sidelined by Baron Corbin and John Cena as he wanted to face Reigns before SummerSlam.

This week’s Smackdown episode went off the air with The Street Profits and Finn Balor battling against Roman Reigns and The Usos. Balor attacked The Tribal chief in the ring, but soon was assaulted by Jimmy and Jey Uso. The Street profits rushed to the ring to even the odds and Balor then landed the Coup de Grace on Jimmy Uso to end the episode.

Next week’s Smackdown episode will see a huge title match was announced by WWE today. With Balor set to fight Reigns for the Universal Championship Title.

Roman Reigns defends his Universal Championship against John Cena

The WWE Universal Champion squared off against former WWE Champion John Cena, who returned to the company after a long time. The Summerslam main event was quite a hit as Cena gave a tough fight to Reigns and almost won the title.

But The Big Dog eventually defeated Cena with the Superman Punch and retained his title. At the end of the show, The Beast incarnate returned against both Paul Heyman and Reigns, but there was no fight as both left the ring without a scuffle.

It will be interesting to see now how Lensar would come into the picture, but it seems unlikely he will challenge the WWE Universal Champion until the Balor and Reigns chapter gets over.
