WWE Superstar Finn Balor also responds to WALTER’s new in-ring name
Since the name was announced by WALTER on NXT 2.0 about his name change, WWE has suffered a massive backlash, and everyone seems to have an opinion regarding WALTER’s new name, including former NXT and Universal Champion Finn Balor.
WALTER faced off against Roderick Strong in the main event of this week’s NXT 2.0. The former interrupted the ring announcer and declared that the winner of the match was “Gunter”.
Balor took to Twitter and responded to Walter, who changed his social media name to “Gunther”. The former reminded the fans that they hated the character “Finn”.
“Everyone hated FINN too!”
The company has updated the trademark filling, and now it seems like WWE has made the decision to abandon the trademark with the text,
“Status: Abandoned because the applicant filed an express abandonment.”
The trademark status is now listed as “DEAD UNKNOWN” after WWE sent the paperwork for abandonment on January 19. However, they will be going forward with the “GUNTHER” name.
It is to note that WWE received a lot of backlash regarding the name change as “Gunter Stark”, who was the name of a person who served as a military u-boat commander for Nazis during World War II, which resulted in them moving forward without the “Stark” last name.
WWE has updated all the social media accounts of WALTER to the name “Gunther”.
