Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is set to face Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns missed out on an opportunity at the first pay-per-view event of the year due to COVID-19, but an opponent is all set to face Reigns at the Royal Rumble next month. Unfortunately, that man is former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre.
The Scottish Psychopath defeated Madcap Moss on Day 1 quite easily by putting up a dominant performance, and now he is set to face Roman Reigns.
In a recent house show, McIntyre has been wrestling Sheamus and Moss. Additionally, WWE is putting McIntyre in six-man tags with other stars against The Bloodline. The top matches at house shows are usually a strong indicator of their planned PPV.
McIntyre is advertised to team with The New Day against The Bloodline at the house shows in January, which means that The New Day vs The Usos feud will likely continue into the Royal Rumble pay-per-view and possibly beyond. Also, it looks like McIntyre vs Reigns is the next big match. (H/t Wrestling News)
It was also stated that McIntyre and Reigns are expected to face each other at several shows in January, and it was rumoured that WWE had planned for Reigns to retain the title at WWE Day 1 and then go on to defend it against The Scottish Psychopath.
“McIntyre vs the Universal Champion is scheduled for several shows in January, and while the card can always change, this would indicate that the plan is for Roman Reigns to retain the title this Saturday at Day 1 and defend it against McIntyre at the Royal Rumble PPV.”
It would be interesting to see how Reigns makes his comeback to the scenes after recovering from COVID-19.
