Daniel Bryan reportedly ran out of his WWE contract a few days ago and is now a free agent
Reportedly, Daniel Bryan is no longer under a WWE contract. The deal has expired which led to a pseudo career vs title match against Roman Reigns on SmackDown.
The Leader of the ‘Yes!’ Movement lost that fight and was placed on the alumni roster immediately after that. His future in pro wrestling is now up in the air.
There are a lot of options for him on the table. He can be an independent contractor, renew his WWE deal, retire, or even join another wrestling promotion with a lighter schedule.
And according to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, an offer is expected to come on Bryan’s table from Ring of Honor Wrestling.
A lot of current and former WWE stars have fought in Ring of Honor before or after their WWE careers and alongside NJPW, it is one of the biggest promotions not named WWE or AEW.
And speaking on Fightful Wrestling’s latest podcast, Sapp said that an offer from Ring of Honor may soon be arriving on Bryan’s desk sooner rather than later.
“I talked to WWE talent and they said ‘yeah, we’ve heard this, his deal was up’… I just know that his deal did expire midnight after the Roman Reigns match and they moved him to the alumni section, of course. But I’ve spoken with people from Ring of Honor. They expect that there would at least be an offer made.”
There would be no shortage of suitors for Daniel Bryan. Like he has said before, he wants to take it slow considering his injuries and age now.
In that regard, a contract renewal with WWE or even a move to AEW might not be such a big step towards what he really wants for himself right now.
Bryan wrestling as an independent contractor is another possibility, something which he also seems to want for himself. It remains to be seen what happens with his future in pro wrestling but we will know more in the coming weeks.
