Olympian Gable Steveson comments after signing WWE contract
Olympic gold medalist wrestler Gable Steveson recently commented on his Twitter account after fans compared him with another fellow Olympian turned wrestler, WWE superstar Kurt Angle.
Some fans started saying that he is just like Angle and should be given similar theme music. Gable responded to these tweets saying that he is not Angle.
“I’m not the next Kurt Angle.. I’m Gable Steveson.. Now, Please Enjoy The Show.. Thank you!”
Some fans also pointed out his earlier Instagram post in which he wrote a caption saying “Modern Day Kurt Angle.”
Angle is a former four times WWE Champion, one-time World Heavyweight Champion, and is a WWE Hall of Famer inducted in the class of 2017. Angle is also an Olympic Gold medalist who turned into a professional wrestler.
Steveson, the reigning NCAA wrestling champion and an Olympic gold medalist, has recently signed an exclusive contract with WWE, also referred to as the NIL agreement.
This new deal allows NCAA athletes to take advantage and capitalize on their status and personalities without losing college eligibility.
Earlier, the rule was that any pro athlete could not participate in advertising, profit from his merchandise sales, or make promotional appearances without losing college eligibility.
This is not the case now, and Gable Steveson is an example of that.
Steveson has more than 60k Twitter followers and 335k on Instagram, which boosts his marketing. He will join the WWE roster soon and defend his NCAA title for the University of Minnesota.
