WWE provided an injury update on NXT star Tommaso Ciampa after brutal Fight Pit match with Thomas Thatcher
This week’s WWE NXT had the technician Thomas Thatcher take part in his second Fight Pit match, this time against NXT champion Tommaso Ciampa.
The newly-formed match-type did not disappoint as the two fighters put up a great display of technique and resilience. Thatcher, in particular, looked like he was made for this event.
And, he dissected Ciampa with ease in the early segments of the fight. The Blackheart came back with a low blow and planted a Fairytale Ending on Thatcher.
He then went for a submission hold which everyone believed would be the end of the fight. However, Thatcher fought through it and instead, locked Ciampa in a gory and brutal submission of his own.
He trapped Ciampa’s injured knee in the steel cage and pulled on it till he tapped out. Thatcher got another hard-fought win, and despite the two fighters sharing a moment of respect at the end, fans worried about Ciampa’s injury flaring up again.
The NXT champion had recently undergone surgery on his knee and many feared that the submission move could have actually done some damage to him. WWE later provided an update on the NXT star.
It is stated that Ciampa did not suffer anything serious on his knee. However, he would still go in for X-Rays as a precautionary measure.
Let’s hope there is nothing serious with him and he can continue fighting in next week’s episode. A possibility, albeit a slim one, is that he could go onto team up with Thatcher.
The two shared great chemistry inside the ring and the moment of silence at the end as a mark of respect for each other point towards a potential new storyline for Ciampa.
