Gage Goldberg was attacked by Bobby Lashley at SummerSlam but Goldberg wasn’t all that happy with his son
WWE SummerSlam 2021 had some controversy as to how Bobby Lashley retained his title. MVP first attacked Goldberg’s knee with a staff and then Lashley went to work with it.
Goldberg was then unable to continue and the match had to be called off. While MVP and Lashley thought of doing more damage, Gage, Goldberg’s son, came and attacked Lashley.
The All Mighty wasted no time in putting in the Hurt Lock on the teenager and that shocked MVP. MVP tried to defend his client, saying that Lashley didn’t know who attacked him after the teen was out cold.
However, Goldberg wasn’t happy with his son and choked him to ensure that he was doing the selling right.
Goldberg was speaking to CarCast (h/t Ringside news) and claimed that Gage was smiling after the altercation with Lashley and he taught his son a lesson or two:
“I didn’t see sh*t. I was choking him.
“‘Dad, when you came over and grabbed me, you were choking me.’ I was like, ‘I saw you smiling man, I had to get the smile off.’”
Goldberg lauds his son
However, the former WWE Champion did have some kind words for his son and praised him for his quick actions at SummerSlam.
“The kid is impervious to pressure. He did four hours of homework before he went out and jumped in the ring with a 290-pound monster who was beating his dad up. It didn’t bother him one bit. Wanda [Goldberg’s wife] was in the back. If she was anywhere near the ring… she would have had to jump in too.”
Goldberg had pushed Gage a lot before SummerSlam and even introduced his son to the WWE Universe.
Gage was one reason why Goldberg returned to action and it will be interesting to see what happens with the father and son duo next.
