WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart is one of the best pro wrestlers ever. But has he signed a deal with WWE?
Bret Hart is one of the most iconic names in pro-wrestling history. He has been the epitome of WWE for a long period.
For quite a while now, AEW has teased the arrival of Bret Hart on Dynamite and Rampage. It was also revealed that he would be managing FTR for an upcoming event. But all these speculations are cleared now.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Hart has quietly signed a lucrative deal with WWE which would ban him from appearing on AEW shows.
“This is on an indie show and not AEW because those in AEW believe that Hart quietly signed a lucrative WWE deal that would ban him from appearing on AEW shows. But he is allowed to do indie shows, so that loophole permitted this. Unfortunately, they believe he can’t be part of the Owen Hart tournament presentation.”
It has been still not confirmed 100%, though. So we will have to wait and see whether Bret really did sign a contract with WWE or not.
Booker T responds to Bret Hart re-signing with WWE
WWE Hall of Famer Booker T spoke about Bret Hart re-signing with WWE during his latest Hall of Fame podcast. He discussed how AEW stopped making references to the Hitman. Now it has been reported that he re-signed with WWE.
“It just can’t be more so WWE, Bret Hart has to have some part as far as making this happen. There again, there’s a thought process you have to go through, ‘do I want to go to AEW?’ First of all, because, of course, this is something that is going to change my legacy. Then again, I don’t know how this thing is going to end, as far as this AEW thing. Let’s call it the AEW experiment,” he said. “WCW lasted for 12 years, people don’t realize that. People think WCW was a company that was around since the early 80s. It lasted 12 years, the AEW experiment, man, we are in the infancy stages.” (H/T Wrestling Inc.)
He also believes that the reports of Hart re-signing with WWE was the smart call for the Hitman.
“The smart thing for Bret Hart, I think he did the smart thing for his family and the smart thing for him. Did AEW lose out on not getting Bret Hart? Yeah, I think so. But that’s going to be something that they’re going to have to deal with throughout the tenure of AEW going forward.”
