Mike Chioda was one of the senior-most members that were part of the 2020 WWE releases
WWE senior referee Mike Chioda was one of the casualties as part of the 2020 WWE releases.
Chioda has been in the wrestling business for more than three decades and had officiated several big matches over the years.
There have been some funny moment with Chioda too, and Carmella was involved in one such incident.
This dates back to her time as the winner of the Money in the Bank ladder match. Mella had several attempts at trying to cash in the briefcase, but she failed several times.
Mella did become a champion later on but the former champ spoke kindly of Chioda on Twitter.
One fan highlighted how much Chioda would be missed in the WWE ring, and Carmella agreed:
WWE released a statement highlighting several big names had also been released as part of the cost-cutting measures.
The biggest one that was sacked was Rusev, who was involved in a big storyline with former wife Lana fairly recently.
Luke Gallows and Karl Andersen did a great job at WrestleMania 36 alongside AJ Styles, but the pair were released too.
One of the shocks was seeing Kurt Angle also get the sack, while agents such as Fit Finlay and Mike Rotunda (Bray Wyatt’s father) were also let go.
EC3 never really got a chance to show what he could do on his return to WWE, and he was released as well.
WWE also fired Zack Ryder, Sarah Logan, No Way Jose and Lio Rush.
It will be interesting to see if they are signed back once things become better around the globe. The coronavirus pandemic has affected many businesses, and it seems WWE is having to deal with that in an aggressive fashion.
