Tommaso Ciampa was speaking ahead of the TakeOver match against Karrion Kross
NXT star Tommaso Ciampa spoke in length about the upcoming TakeOver: In Your House PPV and what the future holds for him.
Ciampa has been a stalwart at NXT and hasn’t moved to SmackDown or Raw in all these years. He has put on some great matches during his time on the Black and Yellow brand, and more should come against Karrion Kross too.
Ciampa had a lot of great things to say about his new rival but also highlighted the role of Edge. The Blackheart was speaking to Inside the Ropes and was reminded of Edge comparing himself with Ciampa.
Ciampa added that Edge was in his back pocket and gave him tips on being a villain. The Rated-R Superstar was one of the best in the industry during his heel run, but Ciampa also was asked about facing Edge in the future.
“Anything can happen. I saw that he had a list, maybe not like Cody Rhodes’ list. He has name-dropped people in interviews and I have heard my name brought up a few times.
“I would love it, there is no question there. I think its just the timing of it and having it make sense.”
Limited schedule
Edge’s in-ring return took place at the Royal Rumble and he has been on and off shows. The former champion picked a serious injury in the past, and Ciampa knew that Edge doesn’t feature regularly on WWE.
However, he still wanted to face the Rated-R Superstar, but it had to make sense:
“I know he is on a limited schedule, I know with the surgery and stuff that you want to be smart with your matches and bumps going forward.
“For both of us, we figured it would be like, how do we get the most out of this? What stage is that on and what’s the story?”
Ciampa spoke about the story between Edge and Randy Orton and was hopeful of the clash taking place against someone he has looked up to.
The Blackheart also wanted the clash to take place on a TakeOver, which he claimed was like his backyard.
Ciampa vs Kross should be exciting at the upcoming PPV, but Edge vs Ciampa could be spectacular.
