WWE legend The Iron Sheik opens up about his opinion regarding the most incredible thing about sports
On the 23rd of January, 1984, Hulk Hogan defeated The Iron Sheik to become the new WWF Champion inside the Madison Square Garden in one of the finest matches ever. But it seems like the rivalry still has its heat.
Recently Bovada Official posted a question about the greatest thing about sports to which WWE Hall of Famer Sheik took to Twitter and posted, “Beating the F**K out of Hulk Hogan” in reply. Hogan fought Sheik for the WWF title for the very first time.
“BEATING THE F**K OUT OF HULK HOGAN.”
This win at the Madison Square Garden kicked off a new golden era in Wresting World, and it was also Hogan’s first reign as a World Champion, and it lasted for 1474 days.
WWE did an interview with Hogan back in 2019 where reflected on the victory as the match turned 35 years old. Hogan was quoted as saying,
“A night that changed my life 35 years ago, January 23rd, 1984. The crowd was magic that night, this was the first time I wrestled, and everybody stood up. Everybody was screaming the whole time. From that day forward, every time I climbed to the ring, whether King Kong Bundy, Andre or Macho or Viper, the crowd was that intense. It was the greatest day of my life, and that day changed my life forever.”
That night history was made as Hogan became the first person to break out of Sheik’s Camel Clutch submission, and the whole crowd just went berserk. Hogan broke the lock and carried Sheik on his back.
