Shinsuke Nakamura’s tag team partner Rick Boogs reportedly received an injury during his WrestleMania match against The Usos
Rick Boogs suffered an unfortunate injury during his tag team bout against The Usos at WrestleMania 38. It was confirmed by WWE that Boogs suffered a torn quadricep patella tendon. The injury typically takes 6-12 months to recover. It was also confirmed by WWE that Boogs would be requiring surgery.
The injury took place during Night one of WrestleMania 38. Night One opened with The Usos retaining their Smackdown Tag Team Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs. The match witnessed one spot when Boogs was carrying Jey Uso on his shoulders. The spot saw him trying to carry Jimmy Uso as well when his knee gave up. Boogs then spent the rest of the match on the floor, while Nakamura tried clearing things up. It is suspected that the unforeseen injury led to certain changes in the outcome of the match.
After the match, trainers aided Boogs walk away from the ring but they had to carry him to the back by the time they got him up the ramp. Michael Cole later confirmed the injury while providing his commentary.
Rick Boogs provides an update regarding his injury
Boogs later took to Instagram to provide an update on his injury. He wrote how his doctor told him his quad was too strong for the tendon, and it was flexing so hard that it ripped the tendon completely off the bone. He wrote, “From the highest of highs to lowest of lows. Having my beautiful wife with me to experience my first Wrestlemania. Getting the incredible opportunity to open the show! Being able to demonstrate brute strength in front of millions of viewers! Unfortunately, the doctor told me my quad was too strong for the tendon and it was flexing so hard, it ripped the tendon totally off the bone. I’m still incredibly grateful for the experience and for all the love and support. History proves I will come back bigger, better, and stronger. IT’S A MINDSET.”
In spite of the injury, Boogs is deemed fine and is expected to come back sooner and stronger. We all hope Boogs to have a successful surgery and come back better.
