Roman Reigns and The Rock are two of the biggest names in WWE but are they related?
Roman Reigns and The Rock haven’t spent too much time together in the ring. However, the pair do have a connection that some might consider more important than blood.
The Rock is possibly one of the greatest entertainers in the world and his movie career could have usurped his wrestling one.
However, he is a legend in wrestling, and his father, Rocky Johnson, and maternal grandfather, Peter Maivia, were legends in their rights in the wrestling scene.
Peter, who is considered a pioneer in the world of wrestling, was considered the blood brother of Amituanai Anoa’i, the father of the Wild Samoans. And that is how The Rock is related to Reigns.
The Anoa’i family is one of the most decorated wrestling families in the history of the sport. Many champions have come through its lineage and Reigns is the grandson of Amituanai. Considering that Amituanai and Peter were blood brothers, the Rock and Reigns are cousins.
However, Reigns is properly linked to several other WWE stars who have achieved a lot over the years.
As stated earlier, Reigns comes from a family that has had several big names in the wrestling business. While the Big Dog has won several titles over the years and is one of the biggest current names in the business, his brother, Rosey, was part of a successful tag team. Unfortunately, Rosey passed away in 2017 while Reigns’ father, Sika Anoa’i, who also wrestled is also no more.
Yokozuna, Rikishi, and Umaga are also cousins of Reigns. The Usos are also part of this family and are related to the Big Dog.
Tama Tonga/The Tonga Kid is also a cousin of Reigns, however, many members of the Anoa’i wrestling fraternity are no more.
Umaga and Yokozuna also passed away but the next generation is ready to make their moves. Jimmy and Jey Uso are doing their bit in WWE while Lance Anoa’i features heavily on Major League Wrestling and has made some appearances in WWE too.
Roman Reigns is currently the Undisputed WWE World Heavyweight Champion and has held the title now for more than 700 days. His reign began in 2020, when he returned and defeated Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman. He later joined hands with Paul Heyman and The Usos to form, ‘The Bloodline.’ At Clash at the Castle 2022, Solo Sikoa from NXT, also joined hands with his siblings, and defeated Drew McIntyre.
Simone Johnson aka Ava Raine, the Rock’s daughter, also recently joined the WWE Performance Center, and many believe she has a bright future in WWE too.
