Drew McIntyre eliminated Roman Reigns to win the 2020 Royal Rumble

Scottish Psychopath Drew McIntyre didn’t believe he was going to win the 2020 Royal Rumble until the last moment.

The second coming of the Scotsman has been better in WWE. McIntyre never fulfilled his potential during his first run here, but now he is set to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36.

McIntyre was speaking to Inside The Ropes and was asked what it felt like to win the Rumble:

“It was wild.

“I didn’t believe anything till it happens in this business.”

McIntyre added that he didn’t think he was going to win it but knew about the plans to eliminate Brock Lesnar

“I knew that was going to happen. That was a big deal. Obviously, Brock approves everything that happens.

“The way it was structured, the way he was dominating everybody. It was looking like he might run through everybody and win the Royal Rumble.”

The Scotsman also added that he would have been happy just to have eliminated Lesnar.

“I was the guy put in that position to eliminate him. It was just such a huge career-making moment. I would be happy right there.

“But to actually go right through after eliminating Brock, eliminating Roman. I didn’t believe it was happening until his feet touched the ground.”

McIntyre went on to thank the fans for the support and revealed that his 19-year career had a lot of ups and downs.

He also thanked his wife for all the support and was happy that the crowd backed him. McIntyre claimed that the crowd’s reaction could have been a little different given that Edge made his WWE return at the 2020 Royal Rumble.

The Rated-R Superstar was the second-last to be eliminated, and McIntyre believed Edge would have gotten the biggest pop.

However, he now has the chance to create history and fulfil a prophecy. McIntyre was talked up during his first run but this time, he seems set to climb on top of the hill.
