John Cena makes wrestling comeback in dark match against Roman Reigns

John Cena was part of the dark main event against Roman Reigns after this week’s WWE SmackDown went off the air at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL.

Cena teamed up with Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio for a six-man win over WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos.

This is the first dose of action for Cena who has been out since his WrestleMania 36 loss to Bray Wyatt. He was touted to make his return at SummerSlam and stunned the world at Money in the Bank.

Cena, who featured in Fast 9 and the Suicide Squad has taken some time off Hollywood to return to his initial career. He has promised the WWE Universe that he will do something big before he leaves WWE again.

The 16-time Champion is already scheduled in a high-octane at SummerSlam with Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. Cena has been officially announced for next Friday night.

WWE held two pre-show dark matches before SmackDown. The first dark match featured RAW’s Keith Lee who beat NXT’s Austin Theory. The second match was Dakota Kai defeating Aliyah, who is rumored to be joining RAW.

Will Cena beat Reigns at SummerSlam?

The biggest question that has been asked since Cena’s return was his ability to beat Reigns at SummerSlam. The two faced off at No Mercy 2017, where Reigns came out on top. With Cena’s inactivity he definitely goes into the match as the underdog.

Reigns is the biggest star in WWE right now and boasts the skill to keep him Champion for a longer while. The one obstacle that stands could be Cena, who with a win will stand top with 17 major Championships.

The questions will be answered on August 22 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
