Cena is tied with Ric Flair for most World titles
John Cena opens up about the return of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to WWE
16-time World Champion John Cena believes The Rock would be welcomed by the WWE Universe if he were to make a return to WWE.
Cena appeared dressed in his full Peacemaker gear, for the premiere of Suicide Squad, spoke to Extra TV’s Rachel Lindsay. He discussed about his stint in WWE and The Rock saying: (h/t Wrestling Inc)
“First and foremost, I’m a WWE performer, but I’m also, at heart, a fan. I love The Rock, I love The Rock, and so do millions and millions of people. I think he would warm so many hearts if he came back.
“I think you have to pay homage to those who paved the way, and without Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, I wouldn’t be here in this goofy costume, so thanks.”
“If there is anyone that has a greater sense of empathy of what he is trying to accomplish… I am trying to juggle everything and I haven’t been back in three and a half years and… I’m one thirty-sixth as busy as he is. For him to still be thinking about that, I think that is really special and really cool. I know he knows the effect his return would have and I think that’s also really special.”
The Rock is rumored to feature at the WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view in November. His feud will possibly take him to challenge Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 38.
Cena made his return at Money in the Bank and has challenged Roman Reigns for the title. On the recent episode of SmackDown, he took the contract away from Balor and Corbin and signed the match for the WWE Universal Championship with Reigns.
Reigns has been the dominant champion since August 2020 and looks unstoppable. Cena will have his task cut out as he tries to win his 17th major crown in WWE. The record was equaled by Cena after he beat AJ Styles a few years ago to tie Ric Flair.
Will we see Cena come out victorious or will The Head of the Table dominate the Leader of the Cenation once again?
