Candice LeRae finally has a WWE title after this week’s episode of NXT
Just one day after the 4th anniversary of her on-TV NXT debut, Candice LeRae finally has some gold around her waist after numerous recent disappointments.
And she did it on the 4th May episode of WWE NXT alongside Indi Hartwell. A couple of weeks ago, LeRae and Hartwell were granted a re-match against Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon.
The two made it count this week as they beat the current champions for the WWE NXT women’s tag team championship.
It also means more gold for The Way, the stable that Hartwell and Hartwell are a part of, alongside Johnny Gargano and Austin Theory.
The latter is the only one who is not a champion out of that lot, but he has the current NXT champion, Karrion Kross, coming up next for him.
Johnny Gargano reacts to wife Candice LeRae finally winning a WWE title
It’s understandable that her husband would be stoked seeing his wife go out and become an NXT title-holder. And it would mean even more if both of them fought in the same stable.
Gargano, who is LeRae’s husband since 2016, took to Twitter to express his happiness at LeRae and Hartwell winning the tag team championship. His tweet read:
“I know how hard she’s worked and what she’s sacrificed for this moment. Candice will always be my favorite wrestler. Tonight was long overdue but the fact she was able to share it with someone we both adore makes it that much sweeter. Candice + Indi [Heart emoji] #prouddad#proudhusband“
And Gargano is right. Tonight really was long overdue for LeRae, who would be over the moon after adding a WWE belt to her accolades.
What made it even better was that the match was also a classic. A Street Fight rules match saw the 4 use objects and the environment against each other as soon as the bell rang.
And it was LeRae herself who made the pin on Blackheart as Hartwell took care of Moon outside the ring. A satisfying victory for the new champions as well as WWE fans.
