Dakota Kai Disappointed with release of close friend Ruby Riott
Ruby Riott was part of the six Superstars including Braun ‘The Monster’ Strowman and Lana.
NXT Superstar Dakota Kai shared a beautiful message about Ruby Riott after the latter was released by WWE on Wednesday night.
Dakota Kai and Ruby Riott were teammates when they formed the ‘Team Slap Happy.’ They went on to win the Shimmer Tag Team Championship together at Shimmer Women Atheletes.
Riott also received a lot of praise from WWE Superstars and the WWE Universe.
“You gave me a room and so much hospitality when I first moved to Orlando. I was scared and nervous but you made sure I was ok. You’re an amazing human with the kindest heart and your future is gonna be amazing. We will always be Slap Happy clap clap I love you sm”
Ruby Riott also added that despite her disappointment at the shock news, she is proud to have made her dreams come true and was given an opportunity from the company.
Riott wrestled under various names like Heidi Lovelace in her career. She was one of the most talented wrestlers on the female roster and formed a good reunited partnership with Liv Morgan.
The COVID-19 pandemic caused WWE to make cuts in their budget and thus reducing their Superstar list. Sarah Logan, one of Riott’s former teammates was also given the sack in 2020. ‘The Riott Squad’ made huge inroads in WWE when they debuted and had a good run for 2 years.
Is Dakota Kai nearing an NXT Championship?
Kai made her debut in 2015 and has had a consistent rise to the title scene. She wrestled under the ring name ‘Evie’, before making a change to her current ring name. (Kai means sea in the Polynesian language)
She represented Team NXT during Survivor Series and also was part of the Woman’s Royal Rumble. After teaming up with Raquel Gonzalez, she went on to win the NXT Tag Team Championship, even though it was for a night. Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon won the titles beating them in the same event.
Her current feud with Ember Moon has given her an interesting chance to win her first singles gold with the company. Only time will tell, if she makes it big in WWE.
