Kenny Omega vs Andrade officially announced for TripleMania XXIX
Former WWE Superstar Andrade and AEW World Champion Kenny Omega are set to fight at AAA’s TripleMania XXIX.
TripleMania is AAA’s biggest event of the year, that will go down on August 14. And it has now been confirmed that Andrade will battle it out with Omega for his AAA Mega Championship at the blockbuster event.
Announcing the fight in a pre-recorded statement Omega said (h/t Wrestling Inc.):
“This belt, the one that represents lucha libre, that you so proudly represent, it’s always going to be around my waist. And you should be thankful. Because not only do I represent lucha libre, I represent all pro wrestling. That’s not going to change any time soon. Send your best at me, send Andrade. The dream match is going to happen. Andrade vs. Kenny Omega, TripleMania. I’ll see you there.”
Andrade vs Omega for the first-time ever
This will be the first-time ever that Andrade and Omega will fight each other.
Andrade was released by WWE earlier this year after he put in a request for an exit, having not been satisfied with the lack of screen time. The Luchador appeared on AAA on the 1st of May, when he challenged Omega.
Omega, who is also the AEW World Champion, has defended his AAA Mega Championship four times thus far against Jack Evans, Dragon Lee, Sammy Guevara and Laredo Kid. The defences against Evans and Guevara took place on AEW programming though.
TripleMania XXIX will go down at Arena Ciudad de Mexico Arena in Mexico City on August 14. There will be fans present for the show, albeit in limited capacity, making it the first AAA event with viewers in the arena in over a year.
