Former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens wants to face actor Matthew McConaughy at Wrestlemania 39
Former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens joined Corey Graves at the After the Bell podcast, where he talked about WrestleMania 38 and the celebrity he would like to face.
Wrestlemania 38 included several celebrity matches with Logan Paul and Johnny Knoxville joining in to put on a great show. He continued to talk about celebrity involvement in wrestling and named which celebrity he would like to face in a WWE ring.
“I’ve always welcomed people from the outside in if they’re cool,” Owens said. “Some of them aren’t cool, and as far as I’m concerned, those guys can just go back from where they came from. We don’t need you. I did interviews before WrestleMania, and people were asking me, ‘if you could pick a celebrity to have a match with, like Sami’s doing this weekend, who would it be?’ (H/T Wrestling Inc.)
“He’s my favourite actor, which happens to be a coincidence, but a few years ago, Matthew McConaughey came to a show, and he was backstage. I didn’t get to meet him because there was a lineup of people waiting to talk to him, so I didn’t get to see him. “If we’re speaking things into existence, WrestleMania 39, come at me, McConaughey, I’m gonna f*** you up.”
Kevin Owens talks about his career on WWE after facing Steve Austin.
Owens believes that to create a moment greater than this WrestleMania 38 main event against Stone Cold Steve Austin will be very tough.
Speaking on the podcast, he described how he feels now, almost three weeks after the match. First, he thinks that it was unbelievable for him.
“It’s all downhill from here, really,” said Owens. “I say that with the most optimistic point of view I can have, and I mean that in a good way. It was really unbelievable. It’s still unbelievable. Sometimes I’ll have my moments where I’m not doing anything, I’m just sitting around, and I’ll pull it up on my phone, and I’ll specifically watch the moment where the ref rings the bell.”
Steve Austin returned to the ring after 19 years and defeated Owens in a No Holds Barred match in his home state of Texas. The match was viewed as one of the best from WrestleMania 38 weekend.
