Kevin Owens spent a lot of time in the indies before making it big on WWE
Former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens has pinpointed the moment which changed his career in the promotion.
Owens had a lot of indie experience and made a name for himself on NXT. However, NXT was still a developmental show in the mid-2010s and Owens had bigger dreams.
The Canadian won several titles since coming to the main brands, but his impact on a 2015 episode of Raw still remains strong in the memory.
Owens came out and destroyed John Cena before setting up a huge clash. Owens also defeated Cena clean at Elimination Chamber, and he highlighted the first meeting between them on Twitter:
“At this exact moment 5 years ago, I was in a hotel room in Richmond, VA watching the Payback PPV, knowing full well that the next night on Raw I’d be stepping up to John Cena and my career would change forever.”
Owens also spoke about how the highs and lows have been memorable in the past five years and it has been a crazy ride.
Owens ended his message by thanking all those who have been with him over the past five years and hoped, they would support him in the future too.
Many fans thanked Owens for all he has done over the years, however, the Canadian hasn’t been seen in action much since WrestleMania.
He defeated Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 36 but he seems to be taking a break now. Owens still remains as one of the great performers in the ring, and hopefully, we see him in the ring soon.
Owens is a former NXT, Universal, Intercontinental and US champion, and it will be interesting to see if he does have another title run soon.
