Kevin Owens is not over his title loss to WWE Universal champion Roman Reigns
It was in December that Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns collided inside the ring for the WWE Universal championship.
‘The Tribal Chief’ beat the challenger at TLC 2020. A week later, he sought help from Jey Uso to hand KO another defeat, this time in a Hell in a Cell match on SmackDown.
Some smart thinking from Adam Pearce then set up a last-man-standing match between the two at Royal Rumble.
It is here where things got really unfair for KO. As if the Hell in a Call match wasn’t infuriatingly unjust, the referee straight up stopped counting when he was handcuffed by KO in the last man standing match at Royal Rumble.
Owens then addressed a tweet directed at him by a fan. It stated that Owens should have taped ‘The Big Dog’ to the ringside pole, just as John Cena had done to Batista more than a decade back in an Extreme Rules match.
“Dude I handcuffed him to a lighting rig and they just stopped counting. Imagine if I had done that to him?
“A piano would have probably fallen on my head or something.”
He mentioned that the referee stopped counting when Reigns’ handcuffs did not come off in their fight.
Owens then joked about the unjustness towards him. He mentioned that he would have probably a piano fall over his head if he tried something like that with Reigns.
The handcuff incident was actually an unintended botch from the promotion. It was not supposed to happen during the match.
That is why the referee had to awkwardly top the count while Paul Heyman helped the champion get out of the cuffs.
Their feud still does not seem to be over. WWE is reportedly pushing their rivalry because they are being forced by the current situation at SmackDown.
