Big E remained on SmackDown while Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of the New Day came to SmackDown on Day 1 of the 2020 WWE Draft
Stephanie McMahon was the one breaking the news regarding the 2020 WWE Draft on Day 1 of the much-anticipated event.
Raw and SmackDown had to choose which stars they wanted, and the brands could even pick wrestlers from their own brands.
As expected, Drew McIntyre remained on Raw which meant that Roman Reigns would also remain on SmackDown given that they both held the WWE titles.
However, there was one major shock right after Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods won the SmackDown Tag Titles.
The pair had been out for a while due to injury but came back and surprised New Day teammate Big E. However, McMahon confirmed that Woods and Kingston were drafted away while E remained on SmackDown.
The trio were left shocked at this and the look on their faces said it all. This was possibly the end of the New Day, a faction that has been there for years.
The New Day was also responsible for the revival of the careers of all three stars. While it started as a heel faction, the New Day became one of the most loved factions thanks to their crazy antics.
Kingston became a world champion while the trio won the tag titles several times. Big E is to get a singles push now, but this was a huge deal for the trio.
Woods used a Futurama reference for how bad 2020 has been:
However, Kingston was able to share a few words after winning the titles but seeing the breakup.
WWE could have kept the New Day together and taken them to Raw, however, this was one of the biggest shocks on the first night of the Draft.
It is a little upsetting seeing the breakup of the New Day but this could be the dawn of something special for E and the tag duo of Kingston and Woods.
