Kurt Angle reveals his favorite moment from WrestleMania 20

The Hall of Famer, Kurt Angle had some spellbinding moments in his wrestling career

Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle had faced late, great Eddie Guerrero at Madison Square Garden. Eddie was the WWE champion back then. He managed to retain his title in a riveting match and the fans had loved every moment of it.

The main event of the night saw another jaw-dropping battle between Chris Benoit, Shawn Michaels, and the World Heavyweight Champion Triple H. The triple threat match was highly acclaimed and at the end of the night, Benoit won the title.

Angle’s favorite moment came after that match had ended when Benoit was celebrating his title win and was joined by his long-time buddy Guerrero.

“I really believe fans still enjoyed that moment” – Kurt Angle

Benoit had outlasted two absolute legends of the industry to capture the title. He was celebrating his monumental win in the ring with Eddie Guerrero, who came to congratulate him. The two friends celebrated together in the ring, teary-eyed, as the show went off the air.

After Benoit’s horrific actions, WWE virtually erased all mentions of him from the company’s history. Angle, in his podcast, The Kurt Angle Show, explained that Benoit’s actions before death don’t entirely take the sheen off the moment if their hard work to achieve the same was taken into consideration.

I don’t believe so, it was such an incredible moment,” Angle said. “You’re talking about two undersized guys that didn’t have a chance at the business, worked their asses off, and made it to the top in the biggest, most popular company in the world and they’re both world champions, it’s such a great moment.

“It’s one of my favorite moments of all time and I think if fans separate the business from personal and say, ‘Man, Benoit throughout, an incredible performance. He and Eddie were the first two undersized World Champions that were champions together,’ it was just a great moment. I really believe fans still enjoyed that moment. Some fans might not agree with it because of what Benoit did to his family, but for the most part, it was such a great moment. It was historic.”
