Kurt Angle thinks Brock Lesnar was good enough to make Olympics as he recalls shoot fight
Not many know this, but Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle had a real-life fight go down in WWE after their heated rivalry in 2003 reached a tipping point.
Angle, an Olympic wrestler, had heard Lesnar saying that he would crush him. ‘The Beast Incarnate’ said the same when Angle confronted him.
And a fight went down between them after Lesnar had finished off a practice bout with Big Show backstage.
Lesnar was taken down once in that fight but the fight isn’t recorded or wasn’t broadcasted, so no one can really know.
But after that altercation, Angle realized that Lesnar is a great amateur wrestler and admitted that kicking his a** was near impossible for him in a fight like that.
Kurt Angle says Lesnar is a superior athlete who was good enough for the Olympics
Talking about this incident on The Hannibal TV on YouTube, Angle said that Lesnar could have even gone on to the Olympics had he honed his wrestling skills further.
“I did take take him down once, so that was that. I didn’t kick his a**. He is a great amateur wrestler. He could have went on to the Olympics. I don’t know he would have won a gold medal but he was good enough to make it.”
Angle, a former gold medallist himself, mentioned the reason why he thought Lesnar would have had success anywhere he went, and not just wrestling.
“He is a far superior athlete, especially against these other heavyweights. So Brock, would have had success anywhere he went. He is good at whatever he does. He is that talented. You can put him in a baseball game and he would hit a home run. He’s just a superior athlete.”
He’s not wrong there. Lesnar tried out for the NFL and backed out of NFL Europe because he didn’t want to travel. He tried UFC instead and became the UFC heavyweight champion. Easy work.
