Former WWE Superstar Lana reveals brutal treatment from Vince McMahon over leaked photo
Lana may not be on the WWE roster anymore, but she is still one of the established names in the wrestling industry, along with husband Miro.
Miro and Lana got married in 2016, but still recalls the punishment from WWE Chairman Vince McMahon over a photo leaked to TMZ regarding their engagement. Talking on Talk Is Jericho, she said: (h/t Wrestling Edge)
“I didn’t even put up a picture, I just sent it to my friends. And then I guess someone leaked it. I never, ever put it up. TMZ got a hold of it. Basically TMZ said we were engaged and so the story got cut and we got blamed for it. Personally, I got blamed. It’s insane.
“I got in trouble for that. I wasn’t on television for three months. And I was on television straight for two years. I was made to feel it was all my fault. I had to take the blame. And for years I thought maybe it was my fault. For years. And then we did the Bobby Lashley story and I had given Vince my word that I would not take a picture with someone I am feuding with, or send it to anyone. If I take it it’s no.”
What happened during the feud between Rusev and Lana?
Rusev (now Miro) and Lana had an on-screen breakup after she turned heel to align with current WWE Champion Bobby Lashley. This resulted in a huge feud between Lashley and Rusev.
The storyline went to the extent that Lana and Lashley performed an in-ring wedding ceremony, which did not go through because of Rusev.
The storyline did well towards the WWE Universe, as they liked the newfound angle. Lana and Rusev had just gotten engaged in real life, which made the storyline even more special. With Lashley, Rusev turned face and put on a show against the All-Mighty, prior to his departure from the company.
