NXT Superstar Tony D’Angelo is one of the top heels on WWE’s developmental territory. He has been involved in a feud with Santos Escobar and Legado del Fantasma as of late.
A fan who attended the live event revealed on Twitter that D’Angelo competed in a match with Cameron Grimes on the night. However, the match had to be stopped midway owing to an injury to the Don of NXT. The event was held in Largo, Florida. The fan felt that D’Angelo suffered an injury to his shoulder.
The fan also posted a few photos of referees and Channing Lorenzo attending to an injured Tony D’Angelo inside the ring. An injury to Tony D’Angelo at this time might come as a huge blow for WWE with them trying to build a great storyline for the feud between Santos Escobar and his new leader.
Everyone was worried after the news broke out regarding Tony D’Angelo suffering an injury at the WWE live event. However, as per a latest report, the extent of the injury seems to be not that serious.
Dave Meltzer reported on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that the 27-year-old Tony D’Angelo suffered a legitimate injury during the live event on Saturday. However, Meltzer added that the youngster will not be out of action for a long time.
Meltzer also noted that some people in WWE were not fretting too much regarding any possible issues with D’Angelo. They were actually downplaying the injury.
D’Angelo has been on a roll recently. He faced Tommaso Ciampa in the latter’s last match in NXT. The veteran faced a defeat at the hands of D’Angelo.
Legado del Fantasma and Tony D’Angelo got involved in a feud and the latter called upon his two henchmen Channing Lorenzo and Troy Donovan. D’Angelo’s faction got the better of Legado at the In Your House event in a 6-man tag team match. The stipulation was that whichever group would pick up the victory will have their opponents working for them from thereon. We saw last week on NXT how Escobar and the other Legado members took orders from D’Angelo.
