Twitter reacts to shock retirement of 26-year old wrestler Lio Rush
Lio Rush announced his retirement from pro wrestling after separating his AC joint, in a shocking statement on Twitter.
Rush suffered the injury at AEW Double or Nothing. Rush was signed to New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) and made his debut at AEW recently.
Rush appeared in NJPW, AEW, MLW, GCW after being released by WWE in 2020. He went on an impressive streak on the independent circuit, earning him contracts with two promotions.
Rush stated that the pain had gotten too severe and was unable to carry on. He says that the decision was in the “best interest” of him and his family.
In a lengthy statement produced, he wrote:
“Got the news that I’d be taking some time off due to this injury. Me thinking it would only affect my wrestling obligations, I still tried to go about my days as I knew them. I realized just how much this would affect everyday life. For anyone who knows me, you know that I work endlessly for me and my family. It became more and more frustrating every day finding little things that I could no longer do. Like simply putting on a shirt and a much harder fact to deal with, not being able to pick up my newborn son.”
Twitterati reacted to the shock announcement:
The former NXT Superstar thanked all his fans for their support during this tough time.
