Malakai Black lashes out at WWE for booking during his time in the company
Former WWE star Malakai Black revealed his frustrations with the bookings made for him by the creative team in WWE.
Black was eventually released by WWE in early June and served out a 30-day period no compete clause.
Talking to Metal Injection’s Squared Circle Pit,he revealed his final experience with WWE saying: (h/t ComicBook)
“I was sick of it, before everything went down. Loved my time in NXT, felt I did nothing of importance on the main roster, or at least not much of importance. Too much bipolar 50/50 booking. You know they would push me, they would, you know, pull me off TV. And honestly that’s the entire product right now. There’s nothing really consistent. Everything changes week-to-week, or is done to the point of beating it to death.”
Black also brought up how funny he thought the process was regarding his release. WWE had built up a new character for him and teased it for weeks before releasing him.
“But as soon as I got released, it was funny…I actually kind of started laughing ‘cause I just went like, well you just built me for like five, six weeks. You made me come back, and now you pull me off TV. I don’t know. The whole thing to me just felt like I couldn’t just take it serious anymore…this is just not worth it. I felt like this huge relief, and I just started laughing. I immediately knew then that that was the feeling of the freedom that I had, and not having to deal with it anymore.”
Black made his shocking debut on AEW attacking Arn Anderson and Cody Rhodes in the same night on Dynamite. His signing with AEW is termed by many as the biggest so far in the company.
Malakai Black will debut in an AEW ring on Aug. 4 against Cody Rhodes, as confirmed by AEW’s commentary team. The match was announced during AEW Dynamite: Fyter Fest Night Two on Wednesday.
Black‘s sensational debut was received well by the wrestling world, as they did not expect to sign the Dutch Superstar. His aim will to be winning more gold in AEW, something that he was starved off in WWE, during his long association with the company.
