Former WWE and TNA star Maria Kanellis has hit out at fans who are questioning her time with the promotion.

Kanellis returned to WWE in 2017 with her husband, Mike, but they didn’t get a fair crack at the top fights.

The pair were reduced to a joke in some segments. WWE tried this whole domination angle with Maria being the head of the family and Mike doing what she told.

Further, they tried to play with Maria’s second pregnancy and used a storyline where Mike was not the father of the child.

However, that was dropped and the pair weren’t seen on TV much. Maria and Mike were then released by WWE in April 2020, and she wasn’t too pleased with all that happened during that time.

Not there to make money only

Maria and Mike were a great pair during their TNA days. However, WWE failed to use them well, even though both won the 24/7 title during their second stint with the company.

Nevertheless, Maria has criticised WWE in the past for their behaviour. However, WWE has been given a lot of support from certain fans. And the former TNA Knockouts champion took exception to one such tweet.

The fan insinuated that the Kanellis’ made money for doing nothing in WWE and that they should get a real job.

However, she fired back and claimed maternity leave wasn’t “free money”:

The former WWE star also wasn’t happy with the notion that wrestling was a male dominated business and didn’t want others to decide how she ran her career and took care of her family.

Mike and Maria Kanellis were certainly wasted by WWE with some questionable storylines. However, this isn’t the first time they have messed up with wrestlers’ careers.

Many from NXT have been hit hard by WWE’s creative force, and this is something that WWE have to work on.
