Maria Kanellis wasn’t taking things lightly regarding the WWE release
Former WWE superstar Maria Kanellis laughed off a fan’s reasoning on Twitter regarding her release.
Maria and her husband, Mike, were two of the victims of WWE’s release. A fan suggested their release was due to Mike not being a great wrestler. However, Maria wasn’t willing to take that up.
In April, as part of a rather unfortunate cost-cutting measure brought on by the Coronavirus pandemic, WWE made the call to release several in-ring wrestlers, backstage producers, writers, and even a referee who has been with the company since 1989.
One of those let go was Maria. Maria joined WWE in 2017 after originally joining back in 2004 before being released for the first time in 2010.
While the Kanellis household waits out the novel coronavirus pandemic, Maria got back to work. She’s known for her seductive social media photo sessions.
However, some of this has been done to help the Kanellis household during these tough times. The pair should find a new home soon, and WWE never really gave them a proper storyline to work with.
Drake Maverick was part of the group of wrestlers released by WWE in April. But as revealed at the end of the most recent episode of NXT, Maverick was rehired by the WWE in an emotional segment after the Cruiserweight Championship tournament finals.
Triple H came out after the match and handed Maverick an NXT contract, and the teary-eyed Superstar wasted no time in putting pen to paper.
When WWE brought Maverick back to compete in the Cruiserweight Championship tournament in NXT without a contract, it seemed the higher-ups were using his misfortune to push a storyline.
WWE announced April 15 it was planning to make a number of cost-cutting measures amid the coronavirus pandemic, which included releasing some wrestlers from their contracts.
Lio Rush, Maverick, Rusev, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson were among those initially let go, and more departures trickled out in the ensuing days.
