“WWE did him solid” – Mark Henry shares his thoughts on Samoa Joe’s shocking release

Samoa Joe was one of the stars WWE released recently and Mark Henry believes this could be good news for him

Dave LaGreca and Mark Henry ran through all of the WWE stars released on Black Thursday and the pair brought up Samoa Joe in the latest Busted Open podcast.

Joe had been out of action for a while and did some commentary too. However, the former NXT and US Champion got released by the company, in what was a shock to many.

Joe is a former TNA Champion and one of the best workers in the ring. LaGreca claimed that the signing of Pat McAfee was a bit of a deflection and Henry also chimed in.

The World’s Strongest Man claimed that there was some good with the bad that was released. However, he was quick to add that anyone losing their job is not a good move.

He also opened up on the Joe situation and claimed that WWE actually did a good thing for taking care of him for so long:

“Joe is one of the most talented wrestlers in the world. I did feel like WWE did him solid, keeping him onboard after his concussion and the damage that he sustained.”

Henry also brought up the fact that Joe could have been released as he wanted to wrestle. WWE have held back talents for long until they were sure of their health in the ring.

Daniel Bryan and Edge are the best examples of that, and the Hall of Famer believed this could have been a move that works out for Joe:

Mark Henry is a WWE Hall of Famer (WWE)

“I think they were trying to protect him but if you are a talent, and you say, ‘I want to go out on my shield, let me make that decision for myself.’

“Then you have to let that talent make the decision for himself. Joe deserves that, whatever he was making was not like the money he would make as a superstar if he was in the ring doing his thing.

“I feel like Joe, while he still has his youth, he still has time left, the clock is not ticking for him yet. He should get back out there and do his thing, and if the WWE says that this was his opportunity to do that, this was a good thing for him to get let go.”

LaGreca was also open to this logic if Joe got to wrestle in the future. Joe would be a top star in any promotion in the world, and it will be interesting to see where he could end up after the three months.
