Mark Henry is aiming to get one of the hottest free agents to sign for AEW

New AEW entrant is already looking to make his first strides as a talent developer by hoping to sign Braun Strowman.

Mark Henry got Strowman into the WWE, a fellow heavyweight to begin as a member of the Wyatt family. Strowman was shockingly released by the WWE a fortnight ago and Henry hopes to be the first to grasp this opportunity:

Strowman beat Goldberg at Wrestlemania 36 to win his first singles title

Speaking with TMZ, Henry said:

“[He’s] super high on my list. It’s not all a Mark Henry decision but there is already interest on both sides so hopefully by the time he’s allowed to wrestle, in August- I think the middle of August then we can have a serious conversation about contractual things of that nature, but right now there’s interest on both sides.”

Mark Henry signed with AEW at AEW Double or Nothing. He will be part of the commentary team for AEW’s upcoming weekly show Rampage.

Strowman, meanwhile is waiting a 90-day no compete clause, before returning to the wrestling business. He is a former WWE Universal Champion and WWE Tag Team Champion among a long list of other accolades. The release comes not long after he was feuding with WWE Champion Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship.

Will Mark Henry return to competitive wrestling again ?

Mark Henry is one of the longest serving wrestlers in history. After his switch to commentary, it is unknown if he will ever return to wrestling. When asked about the same, Henry said:

“I got a lot left in the tank. Once I turn 50, I said I wanna wrestle again so I can say I wrestled in 4 decades. Not many wrestlers get to that, not many. Especially at a high level. I wanna be able to get there and hopefully by October I’ll be at 100%.”

Henry has one of the strongest finishers in WWE

“I want it to be very skillful and I want it to be well thought out.”

If Henry is to return again, his former protege Strowman is the perfect candidate for a heavyweight battle. Only time can decide if the pair will fight together in AEW ever.
