Seth Rollins is all set to face Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania Backlash. This is a rematch from their epic bout at WrestleMania 38 which marked the return of the American Nightmare to WWE. Cody got the better of Rollins on that occasion.
Rollins has however gone on record and said that he wasn’t prepared. This is because Cody was the surprise opponent for the Visionary. The former Universal Champion will have the chance to avenge the defeat at WWE’s upcoming pay-per-view. WWE’s official Twitter handle put out a tweet asking the WWE Universe, who they think will pick up the W at WrestleMania Backlash.
Matt Cardona picked his good friend Cody Rhodes to win the match. Cody and Cardona formed a great friendship during the time they were in WWE. After Cody left WWE and went on to AEW, he signed Cardona to give him better chances so that he could realize his potential. The two friends have taken many vacations together and their families are also close.
How did the Cody Rhodes-Seth Rollins feud begin?
Seth Rollins was without an opponent as WrestleMania 38 was knocking on the door. Heading into WWE’s flagship event, he tried desperately to get himself a match at the Show of Shows.
He fought AJ Styles in the main event of RAW with a stipulation that if he could beat the Phenomenal one, he replace him in his match at WrestleMania against Edge. However, the former Shield member lost the match. Styles won via disqualification when the Rated-R Superstar assaulted him.
He also fought his close friend Kevin Owens and tried to take his WrestleMania moment with Stone Cold Steve Austin but he came out second-best.
Finally, Vince McMahon called Rollins to his office and gave him a match at WrestleMania against an opponent of his choosing.
As Rollins came out to the ring at The Grandest Stage of Them All, he was shocked to see Cody Rhodes come out as the surprise opponent.
Rollins lost the match and has since been trying to explain how the lack of knowledge about his opponent cost him. The match was highly appreciated and the two fabulous wrestlers are once again expected to put on a show at WrestleMania Backlash.
