WWE hasn’t hosted a King of the Ring PPV since 2015 and Matt Riddle wants to wear the crown

The King of the Ring PPV was one of the most important shows for WWE but things have changed over the past five years or so.

Many big stars made their name thanks to this tournament with the King being crowned and reigning supreme.

Baron Corbin is the current King of the Ring winner (WWE)

WWE has kept the King of the Ring format and crowned champions every year. However, it doesn’t have the same feeling that the PPV does.

Recently, WWE decided to play with the fans and asked them if the King of the Ring was to return who the champion would be.

Many fans shared their thoughts on this and Matt Riddle threw his name into consideration.

Riddle is currently with Randy Orton as part of RKBro and they are undefeated as a tag team. However, winning the King of the Ring would be something great for Riddle. The American has been a breath of fresh air in WWE with his character and King Bro could lead to some hilarious segments.

Many stars want to be King of the Ring

The current King is Baron Corbin and he defeated Chad Gable in September 2019 to win the crown. WWE haven’t crowned a new King yet, but they seem to be heading in that direction.

Shinsuke Nakamura went up against King Corbin recently on SmackDown and even stole his crown. The Japanese star declared himself as the King of Strong Style again, and it will be interesting to see if WWE does make the King of the Ring tournament official.

A PPV does seem to be out of the question at the moment given the Covid-19 restrictions. However, WWE could still hold a tournament on SmackDown and Raw to declare the winner.
