Matt Riddle gives thumbs up to Conor McGregor starring in WWE

Conor McGregor has struggled a bit in the UFC recently but he would be welcomed by Matt Riddle in WWE

Conor McGregor might have had his fair share of injuries in recent outings for the UFC, but the Irishman still is one of the biggest draws in the fight game.

The former UFC Champion broke his ankle in his latest meeting with Dustin Poirier. However, there have always been talks of McGregor possibly getting a move to WWE.

McGregor will be out of action for months

WWE, for their part, have seen some former MMA athletes get the job done in the ring. Ronda Rousey was the biggest name to have made the jump and Rowdy won several titles before calling it quits.

Matt Riddle, Shayna Baszler and Sonya Deville all have MMA experience with Riddle spending time with the UFC before becoming a WWE star.

Recently, Riddle was speaking with Sportskeeda (h/t Rajah) and was asked if McGregor would be a good fit for WWE.

Riddle confirmed McGregor would be a decent addition, even if it was for a few days:

“Do I think he’d be a good fit for WWE? If he’s willing to do the work and work hard and put his time in, yeah. Just like Ronda was good. Just like I’m good. But if you think you’re just going to come in, collect a payday which will probably happen and be more like a Cain [Velasquez] situation, where a guy come in, even if he had the skills, only comes in for a show or two. I think it’d be great for business. Conor’s good, marketable, and everything else.”

The Bro also spoke about McGregor’s personality. The Irishman is known for talking a lot of trash and has several times crossed the line.

Riddle spoke about this angle and believed that McGregor would have problems passing the WWE PG code. However, Riddle still believed that McGregor, like Jake Paul, could bring the money and attention with their fights:

“He’s Conor McGregor. The guy puts butts in seats. The guy has a mouth on him. I don’t know if he would pass the PG WWE code. But I guess he could do his best. At the end of the day, it’s like Jake Paul or any of them…I don’t know how they’re doing it but they get people talking, they’re controversial, they make money with fights and drama.”

McGregor coming to WWE is still far from happening but it still is a possible avenue for him. The Irishman, however, has a ton of money and if he does jump to WWE, it probably would cost the promotion a ton.
