Mei Ying aka Karen Q will now be known as Wendy Choo in WWE
According to PWInsider (h/t Wrestling Inc), NXT 2.0 star Mei Ying aka Karen Q has been given a new name and a character after her previous role in the organisation was scrapped on Friday.
Ying’s new name inside the ring is Wendy Choo.
Along with her several other wrestlers have also been given new identities. Aja Smith will now be known as Daphne Lashaunn, DA Brewer will be called Dallas Irvin, and Tom Castor will be named Derek Sanders from now on.
Kellie Morga – who was signed by the WWE following SummerSlam week tryouts in Las Vegas – will now be called Mila Malani.
The character of Mei Ying was supposedly made to deal with a dragon to gain its power hundreds of years ago. She made her debut in January earlier this year as the leader of Tian Sha. The group debuted on January 6, 2021.
Mei Ying as a wrestler
Mei Ying has established herself as one of the most dominant and terrifying forces in WWE history. She is also responsible for the alteration of Xia Li and Boa, both of whom joined her to form the menacing Tian Sha as all of them created a frightening partnership inside the ring.
While growing up – Ying took her inspiration from watching the matches of WWE legends The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. She had also revealed earlier that Chyna, Trish Stratus, and Lita are inspirations and leaders for future women wrestlers.
Karen made her debut in WWE and during the first round matches, she lost to Xia Li. She also lost to Rachael Evers in the following match during the Mae Young Classic 2018 tapings.
Ying made her NXT debut in 2019. Born and raised in Queens, New York, she loves to play volleyball and do gymnastics. Despite having a Master’s Degree in Nursing, she chose to pursue her career in wrestling.
