Mickie James opens up on return of Eva Marie just days after her firing
Speaking on Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette (h/t Fightful), former WWE Superstar Mickie James has reacted to the return of Eva Marie just days after she had been released by the company.
Eva Marie made her big return to WWE screens this past Monday on Raw, via a vignette promoting the “Eva-lution”. Having parted ways with the company back in 2017, it had been reported that she had signed with WWE in September last year.
However, WWE did not use her on screen until earlier this week. This upset fans given as only last month the pro-wrestling giants had released number of talents such as Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Samoa Joe as well as Mickie James, among others.
James, especially, has been in the news of late, after it was revealed that WWE had returned her belongings in a trash bag.
While speaking with Renee Paquette, formerly Renee Young of WWE, the matter of Eva Marie’s return and the timing of it, after the release of herself and other talents. James, though, was full of praise for the returning superstar, hailing her for the way she had rebranded herself and built a following outside the industry.
“Fans are like, ‘You just had these budget cuts and let all these people go and then you debut someone else?’ They always debut new talent after WrestleMania, so it falls in line. She’s beautiful and stunning and I do have mad respect in the sense that she has a million followers and has been able to rebrand herself and has been able to do a whole other thing outside of wrestling once she left.
“I respect that side of her and if she can capitalize on this heat and go, ‘Yeah, so?’ That’s where everyone will hate her and it’ll be great for her.”
James did add that wrestling was never Eva Marie’s strongest suit but insisted if she has a strong character and is able sell tickets, there’s always place for her.
It will be interesting to see what WWE have in store for Eva Marie upon her return. As for Mickie James, a stint in IMPACT seems a solid possibility as things stand.
