Shinsuke Nakamura beats King Baron Corbin to win the Battle of the Crown match
Shinsuke Nakamura is officially the new king in town after beating King Baron Corbin in a first ever Battle of the Crown match on WWE SmackDown.
Nakamura was helped by Rick Boogs, who intervened at ringside to help crown the new king. Corbin was dominating the match but Nakamura got the all important win to become the new King in WWE.
His excitement was seen on Twitter after he uploaded a post saying:
“I officially became the King of the WWE”
Corbin won the King of the Ring tournament in 2019 and renamed himself – King Corbin. He has been seen donning a crown in every appearance since then. Nakamura adds this win to a list of big achievements in his WWE career.
The duo fought four times on SmackDown notching up 2 wins each. This monumental clash was made after a long rivalry between them. King Nakamura is set to bring in a new era of the long history of Kings in WWE from Booker T to Sheamus.
Nakamura will be eager to begin his reign as the new King in WWE next week on SmackDown, alongside his new friend Rick Boogs. Boogs placed the crown on Nakamura’s head in a small coronation ceremony after the match.
Baron Corbin has disappointed in the last few years, with mediocre bookings and average performances. WWE decided to let go of the King Corbin gimmick, after seeing fans not have a positive response towards him. Despite his stint as the WWE RAW GM, Corbin has not done much on SmackDown to deserve plaudits.
Corbin is undoubtedly one of the biggest talents in WWE. He won the 2017 Money in the Bank men’s ladder match and WWE United States Championship, so is held in high stead with the writing team.
Corbin will have to get back from the setbacks and get his career back on track and maybe rejuvenate himself after losing the title of the King.
