Natalya and Tamina seem to be impressed by this NXT tag team
Natalya and Tamina finally won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships after defeating Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler on Smackdown.
The WrestleMania 37 rematch took place on SmackDown, where the reign of the current champions came to an end after 103 days.
In the NXT division, Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell won the Tag titles by defeating Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon earlier in May. The duo won their first Tag Team Championship as a team.
“I’m excited about the idea of facing them, @TaminaSnuka. Iron sharpens Iron. Our tag team championships…they are our passports to any corner in the @wwe, including #WWENXT” ( h/t NatByNature on Twitter )
It looks like the newly crowned Smackdown champions are eager to fight their counterparts from NXT in a Champion v Champion match. The two teams have had contrasting journeys to the top, which makes more for a tough battle between them.
Natalya and Tamina , on one hand are both bearing the standard of families who have been an integral part of WWE history. Their win is a huge wake up call to the future of women in the pro wrestling industry. The two have had struggles in singles competition, but now are front and center as celebrated champions together.
After the defunction of The Divas division, the women’s division hit the ground running led by fresh faces like Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bayley. Despite being somewhat overshadowed, Natalya can be one of the few to have held both the SmackDown women’s championship and Divas championship.
The NXT Tag Team Champions
Candice LeRae won her first title in WWE , after signing with the company in 2018. She has been involved in the NXT Women’s Championship picture multiple times, though she failed to win singles gold.
It would be an ideal scenario for LeRae’s first title in WWE : a tag team accolade. Throughout her independent career, she established herself as a strong tag team wrestler. She has also won gold in Fighting Spirit Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, among other few organizations.
Meanwhile, Indi Hartwell’s victory marks not only her first WWE title but first tag team accolade. She has held a series of singles championships since beginning her career 5 years ago.
The match between the Tag Team Champions of NXT and Smackdown will be very a moutherwatering clash to watch. Two contrasting journeys, but one common goal.
