Joel Embiid used an iconic DX move after Philadelphia 76ers beat Washington Wizards
Earlier this week, the Philadelphia 76ers took a smashing 2-0 lead against Washington Wizards after a 120-95 Game 2 victory. The star of the show? None other than NBA sensation, Joel Embiid.
Apart from his 22-point game, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists game, the 27-year-old Cameroonian made headlines for other reasons as well.
After he was sent crashing to the ground to win a foul after his shot went in, Embiid pulled out a signature move where he thrusts the air in celebration.
It was not the first time he pulled the move, with the first instance being in December 2020. But it was certainly the biggest occasion he had done it on.
For months, fans thought that it was akin to the iconic move used by Shawn Michaels and Triple H during their DX phase tag team phase on WWE. And as it turns out, they were right.
Embiid revealed after the game that the move was a tribute to Hunter and ‘The Heartbreak Kid’, two of his favorite wrestlers growing up.
The NBA star even posted a photo of himself doing the celebration, making an undeniable reference to DX in the caption, which read:
“If you’re not down with the process, I got two words for ya **** ** #ThrustTheProcess #DX“
And this was all the opportunity that the NXT Founder needed to give his thoughts on that, as he quoted the tweet to join in on the fun.
Shawn Michaels joined his partner in giving his reaction as both of them tweeted almost at the same time- their chemistry, after all, was never up for debate.
