Shinsuke Nakamura discusses Brock Lesnar in latest interview and gives his opinion on Lesnar’s backstage attitude
It is common knowledge that Brock Lesnar had a very controversial time in Japan. The American pro wrestler went to NJWP from 2005 to 2007 after his time with WWE.
There, he got a massive push from the promotion and was the IWGP Heavyweight Champion. During that stint, he faced Shinsuke Nakamura for the title in January 2006 inside the Tokyo Dome.
After successfully defending his belt, he even teamed up with Nakamura on the show a month later. But by the end of his tim, Lesnar refused to defend or even return his belt.
He claimed that it was the money the company owed him. Ultimately he gave up the belt to Kurt Angle, who then unified the two championships against Nakamura in 2008.
And discussing The Beast Incarnate’s attitude in Japan with Renee Paquette on Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette, Nakamura had just one word to say- “Unprofessional”.
Shinsuke Nakamura says he is open to a rematch with Brock Lesnar
The two are yet to meet in WWE, of course. The King of Strong Style hasn’t been billed in a way where he can be an opponent for Lesnar.
As for Lesnar himself, he was last seen on WWE at WrestleMania 36 when he lost the title to Drew McIntyre. His contract situation with WWE remains unclear.
But given a chance, Nakamura says that he will fight Lesnar inside the WWE ring. “If I had the opportunity, of course”, said the Japanese when confronted with this question.
He also revealed how he is still struggling with pro wrestling in the USA as he is not confident enough to pitch ideas to Vince McMahon.
“I’m still struggling in wrestling. Coming to the US and coming to WWE is challenging. I came to challenge myself. That’s why I’m here. I’m waiting to find my timing and my moment. I don’t pitch ideas to [Vince McMahon] a lot. We talk after the match a little or before the match if he has an idea for my promo.”
