NXT Champion Adam Cole had a message for his potential challengers
Adam Cole has issued a defiant message to any challengers for his WWE NXT Championship title.
The Leader of the Undisputed Era is the longest-reigning NXT Champion in history, having held the strap for over a year now. He won the Championship in June last year, at WWE NXT TakeOver: XXV, having defeated Johnny Gargano.
Since then, Cole has defended the title against almost every notable name on the black-and-gold brand.
Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, Finn Balor, Matt Riddle have all failed to take the belt away from him, while SmackDown superstar Daniel Bryan has also fallen victim.
Cole’s latest defence came earlier this month in the Backlot Brawl contest against Velveteen Dream at WWE NXT TakeOver: In Your House, where he emerged triumphant once again.
With the feud with Dream done and dusted, WWE posted a picture of four NXT Superstars who could be the next challenger for Cole’s belt. They were Karrion Kross, the eccentric Dexter Lumis, Finn Balor and the current NXT North American Champion Keith Lee.
In response to the post, Cole tweeted a defiant message, which read: “Per usual, the world is knocking at my door. I’ve been the undisputed king of this brand for well over a year.”
Cole was involved in a fight with Lumis in the main event of last week’s NXT. He successfully defeated him, albeit with an assist from Roderick Strong. After that match, WWE sent a strong hint that Karrion Kross would be the current champion’s next challenger.
Balor has already failed once to beat Cole in a Championship bout last year, but a new rivalry, where the Demon King makes an appearance will surely excite the fans.
Then there is also the prospect of the NXT Champion taking on the NXT North American Champion Keith Lee, in a winner-takes-all bout.
All the possibilities are exciting in their own way. So, it will be interesting to see what’s in store for Cole in the coming weeks.
