Legendary Mick Foley comments following the departure of WWE Superstar Cesaro from the company
Former United States Champion Cesaro has quietly exited from WWE as his contract expired. PWInsider was initially scheduled to be at Friday’s SmackDown in Hershey, PA, but he will not be there as he is no longer with the company.
The Swiss Cyborg and WWE couldn’t agree on a new contract, and after his release, he is one of the biggest free agents in the Wrestling world. However, it has been reported that what the company offered him wasn’t reasonable to what is provided to other superstars.
WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley took to Twitter and his YouTube channel and made his views about Cesaro’s release from the company. He mentioned that WWE’s loss is pro-wrestling’s gain.
My thoughts on @WWECesaro parting ways with @WWE Bottom line: WWE’s loss is pro-wrestling’s gain. Claudio is one of the greatest workers of his generation.
On his YouTube channel, Foley said that he is really disappointed since he has been an admirer of Cesaro for a long time and has seen him grow from 2005-to 2006, and Vince McMahon never saw in him what he saw, which is a world champion.
“I’m really disappointed because I had been one of Cesaro’s biggest proponents for a long time ever since I saw him working in the independents in the early 2000s,” said Foley. “I saw him in 2005 or 2006. Man, Vince McMahon just never saw in him what I saw and what so many of you saw, which was a world champion. But in this case, I feel like WWE’s loss is the wrestling world’s gain.” (H/t Wrestling News)
Foley also mentioned that he is a class act, great wrestler and a bigger loss to WWE then he ever realized, and now we can actually see what this guy can do in reality, and he had all the praise for Cesaro.
“A class act, a great wrestler, and a bigger loss to WWE than they realize. But in the end, I think we’re all going to benefit because we’re going to get to see what this guy can do when the restraints are off. Wishing him the best of luck. I guess he’ll be Claudio Castagnoli again. And under whatever name he chooses, he’s gonna tear it down. At 41, he’s in phenomenal shape. He can work another five, six years, 10 years if he wants. What a great athlete. What a great representative of our business. He speaks the five languages man he can wrestle anywhere in the world.”
