Pat McAfee defends himself after punt kicking Adam Cole on WWE NXT

Adam Cole and Pat McAfee continued their rivalry on WWE NXT this week

The rivalry between Adam Cole and Pat McAfee seemed to have died down as the pair shook hands before WWE NXT this week.

Cole was on McAfee’s show recently and broke a microphone before pushing a member of the crew. However, that seemed to be in the past as both stars were featured on NXT this week. Cole wasn’t in action but he was supporting a couple of the Undisputed Era members in a tag match.

The former NXT Champion seemed to have McAfee on his mind. McAfee is a former NFL star and was part of the commentary team this week.

Cole, for some reason, decided to confront McAfee and threw water at him. That led to a bit of a brawl before security was able to calm things down.

However, McAfee wasn’t done, he broke away from the crowd and was able to punt kick Cole as the show ended.

The former champion was knocked out cold during this time, and McAfee lashed out at WWE for removing him from the premises:

Triple H and Shawn Michaels were present as the assault took place, but some have questioned McAfee’s actions too.

WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix was one of those who called out McAfee for his assault. The former WWE Divas champion claimed that McAfee had said a lot of unwanted things backstage and even called him unprofessional:

It will be interesting to see if WWE presses on with this rivalry and it leads to a match. Many former footballers have tried their luck in wrestling, and McAfee certainly has the build to be a decent enough wrestler.

Cole, however, is a former NXT Champion and he will not be taking this attack lying down.
