Popular sports analyst Pat McAfee has been roped in by WWE Smackdown as their new analyst and will be making his debut tonight.
Barring occasional appearances in the WWE NXT, the popular podcaster, social media influencer, former American football punter, wasn’t able to get a big break in the WWE. For the quick-wit that he has, it left many wondering why?
And, now it looks like their questions have been answered and McAfee’s dream fulfilled, as he will be sitting alongside a talent-laden commentary box headed by Michael Cole.
Taking to Twitter, McAfee posted a video that keeps reiterating that ‘he is up to something’, before finally revealing a statement that he would be debuting as an analyst in WWE Smackdown, later this day.
McAfee wrote in his Tweet:
“Good morning beautiful people… TONIGHT a dream comes true. Thank you all so so much for following along with this dumb ass life I’ve been incredibly fortunate to live…I’m grateful for it all. Let’s enjoy this thing Be a friend, tell a friend #PatsUpToSomethin“
He further revealed in the video he posted on Twitter via. a statement that his dream has come true. He further stated that he would be working alongside veteran Michael Cole, every week on Fox at 8pm EST.
McAfee then thanked the boss Vince McMahon for giving him the opportunity and providing entertainment through the course of the years.
Pat McAfee tried his hand at sideline reporting last year at XFL, which was founded by Vince McMahon as well. However, McAfee later pulled out of it, saying that sideline reporting was totally not for him.
He clarified that he was not trained for this, and one’s got to remember certain things to be a sideline reporter.
This is what he had to say about it in a recent episode of his Pat McAfee show:
“I’m not trained for this. People go to school for a long time to be good sideline reporters. There’s certain information, there has to be timing, you have to remember certain things. I’m like, this ain’t my fucking thing.”
