Asuka needed a partner for TLC 2020 and had confirmed she wanted to team up with Peyton Royce
One of the major talking points ahead of WWE TLC 2020 was who Asuka would choose as her partner.
The Raw Women’s Champion was facing Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler with the tag titles on the line.
Asuka was to challenge the champions with Lana. However, Baszler and Jax injured the Ravishing Russian just a week before TLC 2020.
That left Asuka with a major problem. The Japanese superstar was searching for a partner high and wide and didn’t confirm who she was teaming up with even on Saturday.
However, she had several offers with former champions wanting to pair up. Peyton Royce, a former Women’s Tag Champion with Billie Kay, split up with her partner recently.
However, she was open to teaming up with Asuka and the Japanese star had confirmed she was ready to partner up.
Asuka provided a bit of a surprise at TLC with a new partner and it wasn’t Royce.
The Queen is back
Charlotte Flair had been hinting at a WWE return after her time off. She posted several training photos in recent weeks and was the surprise partner for Asuka.
The new pairing were able to get the better of Jax and Baszler and celebrated their title win. Charlotte also created history by winning the one women’s title that was missing from her kitty in WWE.
Asuka is now a double champ but Royce was left unhappy at all this. She posted on Twitter that Asuka was a “liar” and brought up the earlier tweet where the Raw champion wanted to team up with the Aussie.
Royce has had a bit of a tough time since splitting up with Kay. WWE teased that she would be having a singles run but she has been paired with Lacey Evans.
The pair have become comic relief of sorts, but did wrestle at Survivor Series as part of Team Raw.
