Andrade started wrestling when he was 13-years-old and hinted at a gimmick change too
WWE star Andrade was one of the surprise free agents who wasn’t picked for any brand in this year’s Draft.
The former United States and NXT Champion had teamed up with Angel Garza over the past few months. This was part of a new faction alongside Zelina Vega but all that went down the drain just before the draft.
Vega started concentrating on her singles career and wasn’t the manager for the pair. Garza and Andrade were close to winning the Raw tag team titles too. However, the pair split up and went their ways.
Andrade not ending up on a brand was a shock, but El Idolo has suggested a gimmick change could be on the way.
The 30-year-old posted a photo of his wrestling debut where he wore a mask and was just 13.
Andrade also used an important hashtag that hinted that he was being rebuilt:
Andrade might be known for his Tranquillo attitude in the ring but he was a high flyer before making the gimmick switch.
The Mexican also wrestled wearing a mask and didn’t have too many power moves in his arsenal back then.
It will be interesting to see what WWE do with him, especially since he won’t be partnered with Vega. The pair worked extremely well with Vega doing the talking and Andrade backing it all up with his skills in the ring.
Ric Flair had a ton of praise for Andrade a while back and claimed he was one of the top five in the ring.
Gimmick changes don’t always work out for the best in WWE. And hopefully, they don’t mess things up with someone who is destined for greatness.
