Randy Orton has mixed feelings towards Matt Riddle after latest WWE RAW loss
This week’s WWE RAW saw an unexpected match pop up when Randy Orton called out Matt Riddle because of being annoyed by the superstar backstage.
Riddle was on the back of two very recent losses. He ate dust against Sheamus at WrestleMania 37 when the two put up a sensational fight for the United States title.
And in the episode of RAW just after that, his old rivalry with Bobby Lashley was rekindled, but it ended in another defeat for ‘The King of Bros’.
But this match against the ‘Legend Killer’ was a big opportunity for him to take another step up the WWE ladder.
The bout ended in a surprise win for Riddle, who countered an RKO attempt by ‘The Viper’ and then rolled him up for the pin.
A new rivalry between Randy Orton and Matt Riddle?
And Orton then reacted to his loss on Twitter later on. He had earlier claimed that he did not know who Riddle was.
But he was left impressed by Riddle following his defeat, as he wrote:
“@RandyOrton vs @SuperKingofBros is [Yen emoji] He’s a prick and needs a good ass whoopin…. but also impressed me tonight. F***. He beat me. Ok ‘bro’ let’s do this….. Also happy #420AllDay“
Orton made a cheeky 420 reference too at the end, considering the date today is 4/20 on the calendar. The Viper has made reference to using marijuana before.
And Riddle, of course, was suspended from the UFC and had his wins overturned to a no-contest because of smoking weed.
So, it does seem like a one-off match rather than a full-fledged storyline for either of the stars, especially considering Orton is still heavily invested in the storyline with ‘The Fiend’.
